The Pavilion in Durham Central Park – Home of the Durham Farmers’ Market

Durham, NC

2007

Our client, Durham Central Park, Inc., wanted an open, flexible structure for the park's centerpiece, which could host the Durham Farmers’ Market, food truck rodeos, family reunion picnics, weddings, and a myriad of community events. The two wings help define the large public space as it leans into the hillside. The small yellow concrete block building at the joint of the two wings holds two restrooms and a multipurpose room. The pavilion has become the center of community life in downtown Durham and has helped to spark much of the redevelopment in the area.
